Three Months In The City!

Three months in the city, that has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? You guessed it: this is my three-month update from New York City. The second and third months here looked more like how I thought my first month would've gone. I've done so many things, so many explorations. I've met new people, gone out, and just lived. It's been a fantastic experience.
I've learned that there's so much to do here, and you'll want to do everything, which also means everything is expensive. You need money every time you step outside, lol.
Hot Girl Summer
First, my cousin came in August, and we had a time! When I say we had a time, it was HAD.
"No sleep, bus, club, another club, another club, next place." – Lady Gaga.
Lemon drop in one hand, handheld fan in the other, and we were outside at every function we could find, dancing, meeting new people, drinking, just living it up. It was peak summer, and when I said we were outside having a hot girl summer, we meant it.
We even tried to hide from the club photographers so we wouldn't get caught acting wild... but we totally failed at that.
City Adventures
I've hit up so many museums lately, I went to the Whitney, the Museum of the City of New York, and I found out I live close to The Met. I also went to a carnival (the Labor Day Parade), which was so much fun. I met a friend there.
One of my favorite experiences was walking in my very first New York Fashion Week show. I know what you're thinking, "What do you mean you walked in a fashion show? Are you a model?" No, I'm not, and I'm 5'2, with no interest in modeling. My older cousin told me to sign up, and I did! It was actually a hair show, Caribbean themed. I was super nervous, but everyone was super.
That event deserves its own post, honestly. I met someone I'm now really close with there, and I'm so grateful for that connection. My friend from the carnival even came to support me, and I am truly blessed.
I also visited a cat café (and I'm not even a big fan of cats, but it was surprisingly enjoyable), went to the castle in Central Park, and attended a concert by Billboard, where I saw one of my favorite dancehall artists, Armanii. He's amazing and super talented, and everyone there was so sweet. It also seems like Brooklyn is my second home, as I'm there so often.
New Faces & Familiar Places
While exploring Central Park, my cousin Hopriana and I met a 42-year-old petite blonde woman named Jessica. She moved to NYC twenty years ago. She was a real estate agent and honestly, total goals for impressionable twenty-somethings like us. We spent an hour or two walking with her through the park. And we both liked her vibe.
My little brother also came to visit me, which was surreal, because it was my first time meeting him since we learned about him last year.
When I started feeling homesick and missing the water, I remembered I literally live in Manhattan and could go to the pier. It was beautiful, went on a random weekday, and saw lots of hot men in suits or jogging while I ate a pretzel and drank a smoothie from a street cart.
Love Triangle
Now, this wouldn't be a real update without mentioning the infamous love triangle.
So, to update you all, Spaghetti came back. Several times, actually. (And he's probably reading this right now, LOL.) It turns out he read my previous post about him and blocked me. He was hurt because he thought I "dubbed him" for two-timing. I apologized, and we tried again for a couple of days, but I ended things because I want to be single and stay out of that mess.
Waffles, on the other hand, still have me blocked. I hate a man who stands on business. He even made his whole account private, like, boy, get a grip. I did get a missed call from him two months ago, but haven't heard a peep since.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure I ran into him on a street we both frequent. I was with Hopriana, looking at my phone, and when I looked up, a man who looked exactly like him was three feet away from me. Everything matched hair, glasses, skin tone, height, walk… and yes, the sexiness too, LOL. But I wasn't sure if it was him.
Yes, I know I was face-to-face with him, how could I not tell if it was my ex-boyfriend???
We did a mini stakeout to determine if it was really him. We tried to walk by him, hiding subtly behind trees and cars. Whatever we could to know if it was truly him.
In the end, we couldn't tell. Everything matched, but who knows?
When will be the return of Waffles?
Harassment
Even though most of my experiences here have been positive, I want to shed light on something that happened to me.
On the way to the Labor Day Parade, a man touched my butt. I didn't hesitate, I swung on him fast. He backed up, scared, and started walking away while I recorded him and cussed him out. That had never happened to me before, leaving me feeling off. I was alone, so I didn't have anyone around to help.
Final Thoughts
Anyway, happy three months in the city to me! I'm loving this experience so far and am beyond grateful. Here's to more blessings, success, happiness, money, and love.
